Jim Popik
From Tin Pan Alley songs at the foot of Uncle Al's piano through top 40 AM radio, big sisters' record collections, all-nighters wearing out the needle and professional studies at New Jersey City University and on, Jim has tried to absorb and learn as much as possible. Terms like 'eclectic' and 'genre-hopping' are meaningless. Ever curious and hungry Jim is always involved in various projects but all are grounded in the Blues, the 'live' sound, and the art of improvisation.
Graduate of Jersey City State College B.A. Music. Studied with jazz great Harry Leahy. Currently studying with Dave Stryker, guitarist with Stanley Turrentine and Jack McDuff. Member of BMI.
